NOTE: All of our premium Arabica coffees are roasted to City+ to Full City roasts, showing minimal-to-no surface oils….we want all of the flavor to stay in the beans until the coffee is ground! Despite the additional descriptors, the first flavor and aroma you'll think of is "COFFEE".

From one of the outstanding cooperatives in the Shebedino district of the SCFCU (Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative union), this natural (dry) coffee is Ethiopia at its best. Jammy, strawberry shortcake notes and milk chocolate overtones. Produced of heirloom Arabica at high elevations averaging 1800 meters.
From its auspicious start in 2001, SCFCU has grown to represent 46 cooperatives and over 80,000 farmers (small holders) making SCFCU the second largest coffee producing cooperative union in Ethiopia. Nearly all coffee produced by the member cooperatives is shade grown in low densities under the canopies of indigenous trees and enset (false banana), a staple food crop. Member of SCFCU have been growing and processing fine Sidamo type coffee for more than 30 years, and are now exporting their world famous product directly to overseas buyers. Sidama Union produces approximately about 10,000 tons of high quality Organic Arabica beans per year, 95% of which is washed.
This coffee is also Fair Trade-certified.

Symphony Latte, by Tyler Hauptman of Sweet Masterpiece
Barista Tyler Hauptman of Sweet Masterpiece (Portland, OR) shows off his chops on Badbeard's Symphony blend coffee.
"Sumatra Triple Pick Lintong There's a swamp mud jungle funk going on here. Aromatically, Doctor Livingston's cherries have fallen out of his knapsack and lie among the moldering leaves, next to a bog. An Irish peat bog. Lightly singed. In Sumatra. Go figure. That smoky peat-water thing carries to the body - ROBUST I believe is the word. Sweet, voluptuous presentation quickly yields to the gripping, chunky tannins wrapped in licorice that dominate the midpalate. Longgggg finish spiked with orange rind, cardamon, wood shavings, and leaf mould. This is potent stuff. Diane can't drink it. (She loved the Etheopian Mothership.) My inner orangutan, however, loves it. Thanks Badbeard!"
