Your highway pit stop to the best Organic Mexican coffee around...right here! Excited to offer an exclusive taste-peek into a small-scale, community operation which has no parallel in Central America in term of traceability. Tepic, Nayarit State, on the west coast of Mexico above Guadalajara, has a near-perfect microclimate for coffee and many other agricultural products. Certified organic and Bird-Friendly, this microlot "Peach Reserva" takes its name from the unusual peach notes which popped out on the cupping table after harvest. It is a community project sourced from 20 growers in El Cuarenteno of six distinct varietals which resulted in 15 69-kilo bags total (2,277 lbs. all told) of production. On the heels of our awesome Nayarita Fantastico, which had a long run at Badbeard's, we couldn't be happier to get this coffee to you! As with all the production from Terruno Nayarita, it is fully traceable. Using the address https://trackyourcoffee.com/tracker?entry=GTN8902000 you can see all the exquisite details as well as many of the faces of the various farmers. The following, in granular detail you won't find anywhere else in the coffee world without an actual farm visit, is provided by our partner San Cristobal Coffee, which launched efforts to turn Nayarit into a mini-paradise for coffee lovers back in 1991.
Story of the lot: Peach is an especially rare tasting note in this region. We love stone fruit flavors in our coffees, and one patio lot stood out on the cupping table: a lot from 20 farmers produced by the BASILIO Society harvested in March had an intense peach flavor, an elevated cup score, and a remarkably low defect count. It was too exceptional to blend with other patio lots for export, so we decided to isolate, process, and pack this specific patio lot into special 30kg bags. This allowed us to showcase not only the traceability but also the excellence of this microlot of Nayarit washed coffee.
